Pickup from airport or hotel, stop in KK City for lunch or shopping at own expense, then continue with a 2-hour overland drive to Kinabalu Park. Complete pre-hike registration, check in, have dinner and rest for acclimatization.
After breakfast, prepare your luggage, meet the guide and take the shuttle to Timpohon Gate. The climb begins with a 6 km hike to Laban Rata at 3,273m, where you check in, have dinner and rest before the summit attempt.
Wake up around 1:30 AM for supper and the summit climb. Climbers must reach Sayat-Sayat checkpoint before the 5:00 AM cut-off. After the summit attempt, descend to Laban Rata, check out, continue down to Timpohon Gate, then return to Kota Kinabalu.
Mount Kinabalu is not a technical rock climbing route, but it is physically demanding. The trail includes steep sections, rocks, roots, wooden stairs, muddy ground and cold summit conditions. Good fitness, proper shoes and basic hiking preparation are important.
Prepare with regular walking, stair climbing, light hiking and leg-strength training before your trip. The climb is long, steep and cold near the summit, so bring proper gear and avoid overpacking
Mount Kinabalu can be climbed throughout the year, not to wait for best time to climb. When slots and weather allow you can climb, but drier months are usually preferred for better trail conditions and summit views. Even in better months, mountain weather can change quickly, so climbers should still prepare for rain, cold and wind.

Yes. According to Sabah Parks regulations, climbers under 16 years old are classified as child hikers and must be accompanied by an additional private mountain guide. The fee is RM 350 per guide, and each private guide can supervise a maximum of two children during the climb. This requirement helps ensure the safety and proper care of young climbers throughout the trek.
Most climbers complete the summit experience in 2D1N or 3D2N. This package is 3D2N, with one night at Kinabalu Park and one night at Laban Rata before the summit climb.
